ABSTRACT
Compared with laparotomy, the primary advantage of laparoscopic surgery is good visualization of the entire abdominal cavity. An image is dispatched through a telescope to a camera, then a video processor unit, and finally to the monitor or other imaging screen. This transmission must occur using a high-quality light source and light cable.
