ABSTRACT

Data Sourcing Building a data warehouse is a complex and lengthy process. First, the information needs of the organization have to be identified. is in turn helps to determine the data requirements that fulfill these information needs. ese requirements are used to develop a data model that provides business reasons for building a data warehouse (Little and Gibson, 2003). Sources of data are then identified in the transactional legacy systems. Information from each source is extracted, translated, and filtered as appropriate and merged with relevant information from other sources before being stored in the data warehouse.
