ABSTRACT
The influence of the change of surface configuration due to the change of contacting medium is discussed in Chapter 25. However, when a coating is applied the surface dynamic stability or instability of the surface also depends on other factors, which depend on the coating process. The coating process generally involves the interfacial interaction of the coating with the surface. The smoothness, the uniformity with respect to the density, and the surface energy of the surface all influence the surface characteristics of the coating.
