ABSTRACT
The idea of nanotechnology is ascribed traditionally to the after-dinner speech given by Richard Feynman at the American Physical Society meeting on December 29th in 1959, entitled ‘There is plenty of room at the bottom’. The excerpts below illustrate two critical requirements, italicised, identi†ed by Feynman for turning his vision into reality.
