OVERVIEW The objective of this chapter is to describe the various types of topical drug products, the disease states that they target, and the special considerations that apply specifically to the development of generic topical dosage forms. This chapter also addresses the regulatory requirements to achieve a successful ANDA filing with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for generic topical drug products.
