ABSTRACT
The phenomenon of contact erosion is further complicated by mechanical stresses seen by the contact as a result of contact impact on closing. These stresses caused by the switch mechanism will affect contact materials in widely different ways which depend upon the material itself and how it is manufactured (see Sect. 13.3.4).
