ABSTRACT

In this concluding chapter, attention will turn to the operation and utilization of a core series of network utility tools. The tools we will examine include Ping, traceroute, Pathping, nslookup, and ipconfig. While Ping, traceroute, and nslookup are applicable to different operating systems that support a TCP/IP protocol stack, pathping represents a proprietary tool introduced under Windows 2000 and is currently restricted to that operating system.
