ABSTRACT

A field trial of the surfactant/foam process for aquifer remediation was conducted in the spring of 1997 at Hill Air Force Base in Logan, Utah. The principal investigators of the project were Drs. George Hirasaki and Clarence Miller of Rice University; their co-principal investigators were Drs. Gary Pope and Bill Wade of The University of Texas at Austin. Their engineering partner was INTERA Inc. of Austin, Texas (now Duke Engineering and Services), led by Dr. Richard E. Jackson. INTERA conducted all the field operations, including the design and analysis of the partitioning interwell tracer tests. Radian International, LLC (Radian) treated the effluent from the surfactant/foam flood in the Source (i.e., dense nonaqueous phase liquid DNAPL) Recovery System (SRS) that they operate at OU2.
