ABSTRACT
During soil sampling operations, a string of drill rods was used to seat and retrieve the auger’s center bit and the sampling tools through the 4.25-in. ID annulus of the 10.25-in. OD hollow-stem auger. Sediments were classified visually on the basis of their apparent dominant grain size using the Unified Soil Classification System (ASTM D2488-84).
