ABSTRACT
To illustrate the engineering design components that may be required for full-scale application of the surfactant/foam technology, a conceptual design for a hypothetical site using the surfactant/foam technology was prepared. Other designs are possible and may prove to be more cost effective. This conceptual design also includes the air stripping technology that was tested for the Surfactant Recovery/Reuse Project (Harwell et al., 1999). Consequently, it also serves as a conceptual design for that technology. Cost estimates that were prepared using these conceptual designs are discussed in Chapter 20.
