ABSTRACT

With varying environmental and physical conditions, it is not always desirable or possible to effi ciently interact with a number of information systems individually. In this situation, it is preferable to access one central system that provides aggregated access to various sources. In order to provide an eff ective and suitable way of accessing the system, the interaction must be adapted in modality and media to contextual requirements. Providing multimodal interaction [2] is necessary since the application of the personal computer-based paradigms is not always possible in the conditions described above. In many situations, a telephone or PDA are more readily available than a PC or laptop computer.
