ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we will discuss the signal within any multipath ionospheric link with fading. First, we will consider both the band-pass or radio frequency (RF) signal and the complex baseband. Then, in Section 3.2, we will define the continuous wave (CW), or narrowband signal, and describe the main parameters of such signals. Finally, in Section 3.3, we will describe the wideband signal by introducing its mathematical description and its main parameters, which, compared with the same parameters of the radio channel, can determine the type of fading occuring in the ionospheric wireless communication link. We will then move on to representations for the narrowband baseband signal and the wideband (or pulse) signal.
