ABSTRACT

Current code is a liability, not an asset. The challenge is to develop new code that is truly an asset. This challenge was issued by Vaughan Merlyn, one of the luminaries of our industry. It is one that bottom-line-conscious software engineering managers are now taking seriously. To meet this challenge, developers will need to do more than just tweak some code and liven up user interfaces. They will need to dramatically alter the way in which they code.
