ABSTRACT

If it will be difficult to make the point that the corporate information resource is a worthy vehicle to protect with a dictionary workbench, then calculating the value of information (VOI) will be a useful exercise

(Keyes, 1992). It will assist the organization in determining the true worth of its investment in information. The ultimate goal of this exercise is to assign a monetary value to each unitary piece of information. In this way an organization accustomed to assessing relative worth based on bottom-line statistics can instantly recognize the value of information in terms that it understands.
