Over the past several years, a lot of large-scale public databases have been successfully established-notably in the field of genomics and proteomics — that laid the foundation for the evergrowing web of proteomics data. Today, the amount of
proteomics data that is becoming available is growing exponentially and the role of the database has become more significant than ever. Multiple forces drive the explosive growth of proteomics data-not only by advances in proteomics technology, but by innovative computational tools and methods as well.
