ABSTRACT

Cutaneous manifestations occur in about 25% of patients with systemic sarcoidosis (1). A variety of phrases have been used to characterize skin involvement with sarcoidosis, ranging from eponyms derived from the names of

the describing authors, to more descriptive terms like ‘‘papular,’’ ‘‘macu-

lar,’’ ‘‘annular,’’ and so forth. This chapter emphasizes the latter, more

descriptive terminology, and covers the major clinical syndromes seen in

sarcoidosis of the skin, histopathology, laboratory evaluation, diagnostic

aspects, and therapies recommended for the disease.
