ABSTRACT

Human enteroviruses (HEVs) are members of the Picornaviridae family. Over 80 serotypes of enteroviruses have been isolated from humans. Infections with this genus may cause a wide spectrum of diseases that range from mild upper respiratory illness, fevers, and rashes to severe diseases such as acute accid paralysis (AFP), aseptic meningitis, encephalitis, myocarditis, diverse chronic diseases, and neonatal sepsis-like disease.
