ABSTRACT
The eXtensible Markup Language (XML) is the universal format for structured documents and data. It is a method for putting structured data in a text file in order to share both the format and the data (making the data self-describing) on the World Wide Web, intranets, and elsewhere. The XML specification is defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C; https://-www.w3.org).
