ABSTRACT
The first phase in the DMAIC model is definition. As might be expected of a philosophy that has making fact-based decisions as one of its tenets, the objective of this phase is to understand the problem to be solved and the process that will be changed as part of the problem resolution so that the correct decisions can be made.
