ABSTRACT

The fourth phase of the traditional system development life cycle (SDLC) is construction. Since its objective is the production of executable program code, this phase is sometimes called “coding” rather than “construction.” No matter what name is applied, it is important to note that the objective should be more than generating executable code. The objective should be to produce defect-free code that meets the customer requirements defined in the previous phases. Although this is an implicit goal of all projects, making it explicit helps to keep the team focused.
