ABSTRACT

To what extent have Member States of the European Union (EU) implemented legislation to comply with the Data Privacy Directive issued by the EU in 1995? How does the legislation of the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy compare individually and collectively? And has the European Union succeeded thus far in achieving its goal of protecting individual data privacy and acting as a legal catalyst to ensure freedom of movement of this data throughout the European Union and its position as an institution and global commercial player?
