ABSTRACT

At present there are several well-established design approaches in which participation is an integrated element. Some of them are aimed to develop production activities, such as quality circles and continuous improvement, some to advance products or systems, e.g. user-centered design and usability testing, and, more emphatically to improve jobs and working conditions, the participatory ergonomics approach. In addition to these, the “concept of participative design can be mentioned as a comprehensive term for the basic idea of users” participation in designing.
