set up the new discipline and adjust the curriculum, firstly to suit the needs of his engineering students. He was exceptionally skilled at making the complex interactions between workplace conditions and the human organism comprehensible to the technically oriented student. Analogies and multiple examples were his favored tools; however, he was always careful not to oversimplify the underlying medical processes.
