ABSTRACT
Applications are as diverse as the mixing of metals to form alloys which improve properties to the mixing of oils and water for the preparation and breaking of emulsions. Scientists in almost every field have been attempting to understand the underlying fundamental science and formulate general laws that allow one to estimate the tendency of materials to mix or blend without the necessity of experimental "trial" and "error" procedures.
