ABSTRACT

A new version of Linux ported to an M68k processor was released in January 1998. The major difference in this release from standard Linux was that this variant of Linux was running for the first time on a processor without an MMU. This variation of Linux is widely known as uClinux.1 Until then, MMUless processors used to run only commercial or custom-made RTOSs. The possibility of running Linux on such processors means a major design and development advantage. This chapter tries to address some queries related to running Linux on MMU-less processors.
