Formative usability testing involves the evaluation of an evolving design, with the goal of identifying opportunities for improvement and conƒrming that the design is progressing in the right direction. Summative usability testing involves the evaluation of a production-equivalent design, with the goal of validating that it meets the intended user requirements and facilitates safe, effective user interactions.
