ABSTRACT

Within the last several years, many industry analysts and business pundits have predicted that E-business will become so pervasive as to cause the “e” to be dropped and E-business will simply become “business as usual.” Although this prediction has not yet been realized, we have reached an interesting juncture in the evolutionary process because the term itself,

Ebusiness

,

has

become pervasive. However, in spite of the very common use of the term, the understanding and definition of the term is far from universal. To some, E-business is synonymous with E-commerce. To others, it is all about the World Wide Web. And to some it remains a distant illusion. If our goal is to understand how to go beyond ERP to maximize E-business profits, it only makes sense to understand what we mean by this term, and the implications it has for your business.
