ABSTRACT

Mucociliary transport is critical in clearing the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses of secretions and foreign particles. Mucociliary transport can be affected in many disease states and conditions that are associated with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Normal nasal and paranasal sinus mucociliary clearance will be discussed in this chapter as well as disease states that might interfere with normal transport in the context of CRS.
