ABSTRACT

In Chapter 4 we have looked at the mode of functioning and at the conversion effi ciencies of single-junction solar cells. Thereby we studied both pn-type solar cells, which are used for wafer-based crystalline silicon and for many other materials, as well as pin-type solar cells, which are used, in most cases, for thin-fi lm silicon. However we looked exclusively at single-junction solar cells, i.e. at solar cells constituted by a single diode.
