ABSTRACT
The severity of pelvic ring disruption depends on the mechanism of injury: high or low
energy impact, direct or indirect forces, blunt or perforating trauma, and the direction
or resulting vector of the impacting forces have to be taken into account when estimat-
ing the extent of pelvic trauma. The stability of the injured pelvic ring is evaluated
based on radiological appearances, physical findings, and the knowledge of the mechan-
ism of injury.
