ABSTRACT
Many formulas for plates are similar to those previously given for beams. The reason, of course, is that any rectangular plate section may be viewed as an assembly of beam sections of a unit width. The same designations of internal forces are used here as for beams, but dimensions are different in that M and Q stand for bending and shear, respectively, per unit width, rather than being referred to the total width B of a beam.
