ABSTRACT

This chapter describes strategies that can be used with mass spectrometry to support new drug discovery in a drug metabolism environment. The chapter discusses in vitro and in vivo tests that can be used to determine whether a compound is a potential candidate for development as a new drug. The chapter covers recent techniques used to increase throughput in the area of drug discovery bioanalytical assays. It also explains potential problems that can occur when using HPLC/MS/MS for bioanalytical assays and provides suggestions on avoiding the problems.
