ABSTRACT
This chapter will give a solid grounding in the theory underlying correspondence analysis and associated analysis algorithms – hierarchical clustering in particular. This chapter is not essential for reading later chapters with examples and discussion of software. It can safely be used for reference, on points of detail, when and where the need arises.
