ABSTRACT
Pain is an integral part of human experience. It is the single most frequent reason for
physician consultation in the United States (1). Many cancer patients do not present
with pain, but ultimately experience it as a result of progressive disease, diagnostic
or therapeutic treatments, palliative interventions (surgery, radiation, chemotherapy)
(2), complications of the same, and from other comorbid disease states.
