ABSTRACT
In preparing for an emergency or disaster situation, prudent safety professionals may want to assess the level of insurance protection of the physical assets of the facility or operations. Although the specific responsibilities of acquisition and maintenance of specific insurance policies usually falls within the domain of the risk manager or insurance administrator, it is important for the safety professional to possess an adequate knowledge base of the levels of protections, benefits to be provided, and contact names for each insurance carrier to be utilized as part of the overall assessment as well as use in an emergency situation.
