ABSTRACT
Abstract The theory of a laser has provided many semiclassical and quantum models of the laser. Differential-difference equations play a prominent role in the description of the dynamics of the laser. Investigation of the steady state leads to a simplification of these equations to the difference equations. Recent studies of random lasers have aroused interest in the description of traditional lasers.
