ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an outline for a course on spatial point-pattern analysis based on the course “Patrones espaciales en ecología: modelos y análisis” that the rst author presented several times at the graduate school Alberto Soriano in the Agronomy department of the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (IAMZ-CIHEAM), Spain. The course is designed to be covered during a 2-week period, lasting approximately 6 h/day. The point-pattern part of the course includes approximately 1 week of activities. Table 5.1 suggests a rough timetable for the course. In general, there should be 4 hours of lecture in the morning and 2 or more hours of supervised hands-on activities, during which the students apply the material presented and conduct their own analyses with the appropriate point-pattern software. The material is closely related to the contents of the book and we provide chapter numbers as guidance.
