ABSTRACT
Design errors are addressed by verification of correctness of the network function, and redesign if necessary. The incidence of physical faults can be reduced by quality control in the manufacturing process, by ensuring proper conditions of operation, and by the use of reliable components. Unavoidable failures are addressed by the use of test procedures that determine the presence and location of faults. Testing of the network is performed at the logical and physical levels.
