ABSTRACT

Now that you have decided in what roles you will place staff, afliated volunteers, and spontaneous or just-in-time volunteers in disaster response; have developed the protocols for who you are looking for; and have reviewed how the volunteer reception center (VRC) can house these functions, you can move on to the fundamentals of spot screening and selecting spontaneous volunteers. Establishing spot-screening and selection procedures helps to address the internal-capacity and communication procedures of recruiting and building your disaster response force with volunteer capacity.
