ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Drug innovation and development are addressing an increasing number of hurdles that are mostly brought in by several connected challenges. Some of these challenges are

1. the ever growing amount of increasingly diverse evidence in biology and physiopathology, 2. the complexity of still unsolved diseases, 3. the growing constraints from regulations, 4. the increasing awareness of and demand from the citizens, and 5. the ever deepening concerns on public health needs and requirements.
