ABSTRACT

In Chapter 4, we have introduced linear programming-based basic modelling techniques. In practice, many problems require integer (includes binary) and nonlinear variables for appropriately modelling the problems. In this chapter, we would like to discuss simple integer and nonlinear modelling techniques frequently used by the modellers. In addition, few other modelling techniques are presented. A number of examples will be provided to demonstrate the use of integer and nonlinear variables in modelling practical problems.
