ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 was concerned with flow in closed conduits. In Section 5.5, for example, we modeled laminar flow through circular, rectangular, and annular passages. For each case, a control volume was set up, and then the continuity and momentum equations were written. Solving the resulting differential equation and applying boundary conditions yielded a velocity distribution for the problem. We performed a similar analysis in Chapter 7 for laminar flow down an incline.
