ABSTRACT

The hydrocarbon and petrochemical industries employ the ow of many uids. For example, combustion equipment requires the ow of air and fuel. Then there are the process streams themselves comprising hydrocarbon

liquids and gases owing under pressure, through pipes and ttings, to their delivery point. Calculation of uid ow, therefore, is of fundamental importance. The purpose of this chapter is to give the reader a fundamental understanding of some of the uid dynamic concepts and equipment that are important in testing combustion systems.
