ABSTRACT
So, what can this chapter offer the reader? We will endeavor to project the possibilities of technologies for different sectors based on a set of broad criteria. The chosen criteria attempt to factor in the time variable in our decisions, but they do not amount to life-cycle analysis, whether conventional or otherwise. The reader will not nd here any economic projections; only qualitative ones. In particular, we endeavor to factor the three criteria that, for the foreseeable future, seem permanent: the First Law, the Second Law, and legacy issues.
