ABSTRACT
Because models, dynamic or static, must comply with the laws of thermodynamics, we review those laws in this chapter. A clear difference between mechanical and thermal energy is established here and related to fossil-fuel depletion. Temperature is presented as a gauge of thermal energy quality. Equations for dynamic modeling emanating from the laws considered in this chapter are derived in Chapter 2.
