ABSTRACT

The proverb, “Failing to plan is planning to fail,” is the most important consideration for every mouse developmental pathology study. Suitable advance preparation is the essential ingredient for ensuring that a given experiment has the best opportunity for success.76 Whether the trouble lies in mistaken assumptions or suboptimal methodology or carelessness (or some combination of them), a badly designed experimental plan will make the acquisition, processing, and analysis of appropriate samples more difcult-assuming that the study can be completed and evaluated in a meaningful manner at all.
