ENO and WENO schemes are high-order accurate finite-difference or finitevolume numerical methods designed for the solution of hyperbolic problems with piecewise smooth solutions containing discontinuities. The key idea of these methods is the design of the locally smoothest stencil that avoids crossing discontinuities as much as possible.
