ABSTRACT

Porosity was often regarded as a defect to be avoided in the early years of engineered materials, but now it has become an important parameter for the processing of metals [1], ceramics [2], and polymeric materials [3]. Porous polymer matrices, which are the focus of this book, have found numerous applications in various elds, especially chemistry and the biomedical sciences where they have been explored as supports for catalysts, articial extracellular matrices for in vitro tissue culture, drug delivery devices, and more [3-5].
