ABSTRACT

There are other readers in the market that can be set up to read the different ultrahigh frequency (UHF) frequencies (only the UHF frequencies) such as 915 MHz for North America, 868 MHz for Europe, and 950 MHz for Japan. Though the readers have the ability to read the different frequencies, the manufacturer must “lock in,” or choose one of these frequencies. The choice of frequency is driven by the restrictions dictated by the governmental organizations that control frequencies used in each country. Generally, the end use or commercial customers for the readers have no ability to change the frequency of the reader.
