ABSTRACT

The design and implementation of a successful radio frequency identiŽcation (RFID) system is a complex process. One of the most important sets of decisions that the RFID engineer must make involves the selection of individual system components. Making informed decisions with respect to this process will increase the probability of producing a fully functional reliable system. Conversely, less-than-informed decisions can easily result in a poorly performing system or even worse, having to redesign the system from scratch. A poor implementation of any new technology such as RFID can increase the resistance to other attempts at using technology to increase productivity.
